Standard Response Protocol
Take me Straight to the Videos...
The safety of our ISD students and staff is our highest priority. To ensure a clear and coordinated response to any emergency, Sinton ISD, in partnership with the Sinton Police Department, uses the Standard Response Protocol (SRP).
The Standard Response Protocol (SRP), developed by The "I Love U Guys" Foundation, is a crucial framework that provides a common language and set of actions for schools, students, staff, and first responders during a crisis. For Sinton ISD, leveraging the SRP means creating a unified and predictable response system that everyone understands, from a kindergarten student to a Sinton Police Department officer.
The SRP is a set of five simple, action-based responses that provide a common language for everyone—students, staff, parents, and first responders. By using the same terms, we can act quickly and predictably when it matters most.
The Five Actions
Hold: "In Your Room or Area. Clear the Halls."
Used when there is an issue in the hallway, and movement is restricted.
Secure: "Get Inside. Lock Outside Doors."
Used to safeguard people inside the building from a threat outside.
Lockdown: "Locks, Lights, Out of Sight."
Used to protect students and staff from a threat inside the building.
Evacuate: "To the Announced Location."
Used to move people from a dangerous area to a safer location.
Shelter: "Stating Hazard and Safety Strategy."
Used for group protection from a specific hazard, such as severe weather or a chemical spill.
Our Coordinated Response
The partnership between Sinton ISD and the Sinton Police Department is critical. We work together through joint training and drills to ensure that all of our procedures are seamless. When an emergency occurs, this shared protocol allows for efficient communication and a unified response, with Sinton PD officers and Sinton ISD staff speaking the same language and following the same plan.
