From the Chief's Desk: Partnering for Prevention

I am proud to introduce Operation Sinton Safe Guard, a proactive community initiative designed with one goal in mind: protecting you and your property. We are taking a forward-thinking approach to prevent crime before it happens.

We adopted this concept from other successful police agencies across Texas. By identifying common security lapses—like unlocked doors or valuables left in plain sight—we can work together to remove the opportunities that criminals look for.

Our officers will focus on this program during peak times, such as holidays, or in neighborhoods experiencing criminal activity. We are here to serve and partner with you to keep Sinton safe.

The Assessment Process

Transparency is key. Here is exactly how our officers conduct a Sinton Safe Guard vehicle security & awareness check.

01

The Patrol

Officers patrol areas where burglaries are likely to occur, such as shopping centers or neighborhoods. They look for obvious signs of insecurity, like visibly unlocked door or open windows.

02

The Visual Scan

Officers peer inside looking for valuables in plain sight—purses, firearms, or electronics. At no time will an officer enter the vehicle or rummage through it.

03

The Report

The officer checks the appropriate boxes on the Sinton Safe Guard report card and leaves it on the windshield. It is a friendly reminder, not a citation.

What to Look For

If you return to your vehicle and see a card on your windshield, don't panic. It is not a ticket. It is an Operation Sinton Safe Guard assessment designed to keep you informed and assure you we are out and patrolling your area.

Common Questions

Will the officer enter my vehicle?

Absolutely not. Officers will never enter your vehicle. All observations are made from the exterior of the vehicle. Officers do not rummage through belongings or open glove compartments.

Did the officer touch my door handle?

Occasionally, an officer may physically check a door handle to verify if the locking mechanism is engaged. This is done solely to alert you to a security vulnerability that a criminal could easily exploit.

Is this a ticket?

No. The card left on your windshield carries no fine and is not a record of an infraction. It is strictly educational and informational.
